They'd be five star boots if it wasn't going to be a hellish process to break them in; they hurt immediately around the ankles when you put them on. Once they're broken in, though, they'll be sharp. Extremely good price makes it worth it! Don't mind the socks in the photos; had to find the thickest ones I had to start the break in process lol

Mine required no break-in, the inner sole is thick and very comfortable. Purchased from Sheplers in Wichita KS through amazon.com.     Fantastic Boots and great to be able to purchase a pair of Ariat Boots made in Mexico instead of China and for under $100 they are great value. Apart from being comfortable they look great. They are distressed but not over distressed if you get my meaning and the color of the rustic black has shades of brown in it which makes them very versatile. Buy a pair now you won't be disappointed.

    Cons:
    Stitching on inner leather on heel gave out, and a piece of leather that was lining the inside came loose
    Piping on sides of boots cracked
    Built-in padded foot bed started wearing through after a couple weeks of normal wear

    I glued the loose leather inside, and put some insoles in.

    Overall great boots. Took a while to break in -- some rubbing alcohol on the inside of the boots on the stubborn spots helped to stretch them a little.

    Clearly these boots were not for my feet, as I am not wearing men's boots any time soon. I got them for a staff member, who was wearing crummy cheap boots while he worked in our barn~ not acceptable. So, we bought him a pair in the style my husband wears. Ariat is the only brand we, as a boot wearing family, ever buy. So, once we got the boots, which was lickety split, of course, with Amazon Prime, we had Vid try them on. They fit exactly the way they are intended. They fit as though your foot is poured into a boot mold. haha. Of course, if they fit correctly, they should be a bit tight the first few times, they weather slowly, and fit your foot, well, like a glove.
    These were exactly what we had hoped, and Vid was extremely grateful, smiled all day. We are pleased that our staff member finally knows what a quality boot should be, and we're confident he's as comfortable as he can be while he works. That makes everyone happy. Even the horses. Wink.
