- Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2015These are great. Just as advertised. Flat sole, wide toe box. But not crazy wide, i.e., I am not sliding around in there. I tried the 46 and it was way to big; 45 was just right. Note for comp-- I tend to wear 12 in US dress shoes and 13 in US athletic shoes. I think they are pretty cool looking and my wife agreed, which is a win because she often thinks the "barefoot" style shoes I get look like clown shoes. Not so with these. My only issue with them-- and this may be only for the tan color, which is pretty light-- is that they stain VERY easily at first. So you MUST waterproof them, either with a spray, a treatment, or something like Grangers Wax. I got a couple simple drops of water on them on the first day and they both stained right away and it took me a lot of time with polish and wax to get those stains out. So treat 'em right away and you should be good.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2015These are beautiful, and made of high quality leather, but a design flaw keeps them from being perfect. Along the outer edge of the soles, there is a slightly raised bevel that is almost painful if one is walking on uneven ground or does anything to put presser on the outer edges of their feet. Not always noticeably, but it is uncomfortable when it happens. I tried two pairs of these and they were both the same.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2015Stiffer than expected for a Vivobarefoot shoe. I was expecting a much softer tread as well. These are pretty much the same as any shoe, expect you get zero drop (which is hard enough to find as it is). There is little to no padding inside (like pretty much every dress shoe) but the lack of heel means only my feet are sore after a long day of walking or standing, as opposed to my lower back. Quality was pretty poor on my first pair with the sole separating up around the toe bend on both shoes within 5-6 months. Amazon refused to honor the 6 month replacement for defects that Vivo says their vendors are obliged to honor. I emailed Vivo with some pictures and they quickly sent me a new pair which are holding up much better.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 20161.) If you want these to be flat dress shoes - youll be dissappointed
2.) If you think spending the extra money on these will be worth it because they look a bit more formal - your wrong
3.) If your simply looking for a flat, comfortable daily shoe - the Vivo ra II in tabacco color for $75 will be waaaay more comfortable and look about as clownish as these do.
I desparately wanted to like these shoes. I had them on my wish list for a year. Unfortunately they are much less comfortable than my other Vivo "dress" shoes. These have no padding at all. The inner sole is a piece of stiff hard leather. The outer sole is another piece of hard, leather with a rubberized coating presumably for grip. Ive worn many shoes with soles like this in the past, so i know they will never become flexible enough to be comfortable even with time.
My other qualm is that the color of tan i recieved is drastically different than the advertised color. Infact the pair i recieved dont even have the same outsole as pictured.
Also, the toe box is more cramped than ALL other Vivo shoes.
The materials are top notch but the design is flawed. If your looking for a flat, flexible shoe with wide toe box, you might as well spend less money on another Vivo shoe like the Ra or Ra II.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2015I really want to like these shoes but they are disappointingly plain. They look a bit dressier in the picture than they actually are. They are much more dull black then the shine you see. They don't really cut it at work with black pants. I wanted to return them for the brown which I feel like actually has some character but it's past the return date so that's that. Waste of money. Only worn these shoes twice. I want to love them but they're just kinda boring and look like my other black shoes. disapointingly
- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2016Vivo shoes design great products. This shoe fit awesome. Mimics being barefoot. That is why the arch support is your arch. Works awesome in the workplace, business casual. I did place a insole in from previous Vivo shoes as my size 13 foot, in a lightweight wool sock, slid around a bit more than I wanted.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2015Bought these mainly for the look, I wanted a minimalist looking shoe that was equally at home in a meeting as it was at the pub. Couldn't be happier with them - was impressed the moment I opened the box - great, quality packaging and a nice leather smell. Easy to slip on, but at first you feel like your foot 'swims' inside them a little as it doesn't have a tapering toe. I'd say the fit is on the larger side. Yes, I knew I was buying a minimalist/flat shoe, and it takes a little getting used to, but I love them - you'll feel like you've been standing in bare-feet all day (that compressed, 'tired' feel) as opposed to standing on cushioned sneakers.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2015The soles are thicker than I expected, which is a plus in this case. I have only had the sneaker styles up to this point and they transmit too much of the glass an rubble thru. These function like a normal casual dress shoe. The leather is thick and there is some pressure at the tongue and side meet just behind the lip. I have used some leather conditioner to soften the bend, I think it will be fine. I am used to good shoes taking a little time to break in. I am 11.25 " in ideal, these are about 11.5. I can get away with an 11" if the shoe is styled with an extended toe, normally. Color has a slight mahogony/burgundy/oxblood "purple'-ish tone. I would not have called this "dark brown" myself. Hope these comments help someone.
