Great Comfort, Great Looks, Poor Quality

Great Comfort, Great Looks, Poor Quality
I bought these shoes about last August (2017). I wore them for two weeks while in South America, city walking. And off and on since then. I started wearing them every day about three months ago, got them wet and let them dry out in the sun. That's when much of the shoe in the toe area pretty much came apart; upper and lower. What you are looking at is AFTER I Gorilla Glued them back. I would not buy them again. No, not for that much. Thank you for your time.

These shoes are great! I wear a size 14b and it is hard to find shoes that size. They are comfortable, have great tread, especially for wet surfaces, and have held up well. A little warm for summer. The only problem I have had with them is that they developed a squeak in the right heal that has gotten worse over time. Though the boots still look like new, it sounds like a duck quack every time I take a step. Wish I could return them for a new pair, but the time has passed for me to be able to return them. But I will get another pair if they were still available. I have had other shoes that did this, but it happens periodically. I would go for it if you want a nice, lightweight, fairly warm, comfortable all purpose kick around or light weight hiking shoe. Very pleased even in spite of the squeak.

These boots fit nicely and were comfortable for daily use for a 17 day trip in July. The problem is as others have noted. The sole is already separating from the upper allowing water and rocks into the boots. Dunham used to be a well respected boot company. As a Vermonter, I have owned several sets of their boots over the years and been pleased. I have no idea what happened to their QC.

If these were some random cheap pair of boots failing after 3 weeks of wear, I probably wouldn't be surprised. But a $120 pair? That is very upsetting. The Amazon return period has passed, so I have contacted Dunham directly. Quite frankly after seeing the quality of their boots, I don't expect much from their customer service. I hope to be surprised! I will update this review as needed.

I bought these Dunham Men's MCR6630G Cloud Mid Cut Boots on the basis of the reviews and that I have a pair of Dunham's Mid Cut work boots. Since I had the mid cut work boots, I thought I knew what mid cut meant, and the pictures of the boots are at eye level so I didn't get a clear picture of their relative height to anything else.

When I opened the box, I could see that they were lower cut than my boots, but I still hoped they would work. When I put them on, I found that they did not clear the tops of my ankles, meaning that would create a wear point when I walked. Plus, having the "cut" lower than mid cut meant that the effective opening to the boot when worn, was larger. I don't know where the other reviewers hike, but in the brush where I walk, I occasionally have to take off my boots to pull prickery seeds out of my socks. These boots are low enough and more open so that there is much more space for these seeds, etc. to drop into.

In my estimation these boots should be called high low cut.

These boots also did not seem as comfortable or flexible as they might be. I also have New Balance running shoes.

For those who don't mind the lower cut, I found that the size 13EEEE was fine for the fit.

If I wrote a review for these a few years ago, I would be raving about the quality and fit of these shoes. I wear a size 15 wide, and was growing tired of wearing extremely heavy work boots each day. I have been wearing these shoes since around the end of 2009. It was instant satisfaction wearing these to work each day. They are light, they have good grip, and the lining is comfortable. Each year I buy a new pair around the holidays. I put some serious mileage on my shoes at work. However, my last 2 pairs have not even made it to the 6 month mark before falling apart. I believe they have changed the way they make these shows. In September of 2014 I bought a pair and the stitching tore apart at the sides, and the toe-guard fell off of the right shoe. I decided that perhaps i bought a bad pair. I ordered another pair and just after 3 months of wearing, the same exact problem. The stitching at the sides of the boots has completely come apart making the shoes unwearable. If you saw my shoes you would think they were several years old. Unfortunately the quality has gone down on this product and I will never buy another pair again. It's ashame, because anyone with big feet knows how hard it is to find a comfortable and reliable shoe.

I used these boots (formerly Cloud 9 ) for almost 10 years doing a very hard job outside. I still wear them for daily life. For a wide foot that sees a lot of wear and tear, as far as I am concerned there is no other option. They are comfortable and durable...not waterproof, but that was their biggest drawback for me. I went to a New Balance store to buy new ones and wouldn't even hear of buying anything else, nothing else fit me as well in this sort of boot. Us 4E or H width people are pretty limited to what we can wear for rugged applications and still stay comfortable.
