- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2017If you’re going to spend a lot of time outdoors or in seriously cold temperatures, winner is the Columbia Bugaboot Plus III Omni-Heat as the best choice for its mix of non-bulky insulation, full waterproofing, relative agility, and good overall traction.
As soon as you put a heat-generating foot in these boots, the value of the metallic, heat-reflecting Omni-Heat layer becomes clear. It really does help keep your feet warmer without adding bulk, and in our experience it breathed well enough (that is, allowed water vapor to escape) I had no experience finding myself with sweaty feet, even when temperatures were closer to freezing than to the subzero lows these boots can handle.
These boots fit true to size, with a normal-to-spacious toe box—there’s plenty of room for a wide foot or high-volume arch—and a heel that’s roomy but not sloppy. When combined with just the right amount of rocker (upturned toe), is a boot that feels both sturdy and supportive underfoot but also agile enough that you don’t feel as if you just clomped down from a spaceship.
You will find yourself ice skating in these boots if you’re not careful, though, they are not the best on traction on glare ice, which is pretty much expected for this sort of heavy-duty boot; in return for the heavy-duty, long-wearing lugs in the sole, you lose the soft grippiness that would give you traction on smooth ice. The solution is to use an equally heavy-duty traction device like the Hillsound Trail Crampon Ultra, which took first place for serious outdoor users in our review of nonslip traction aids. That said, these boots do just fine on their own if you’re walking in snow, and they offer good lateral stability.
I have been using these boots over 2 months for Hunting purposes. So far they performing great. Definitely keeps your feet warm if you know how to properly dress up for cold conditions, great waterproofing and very easy to clean. Depending on the place, usually in grass, ankle high water, mud, snow and even swamp i have been walking thru with these boots. It handles great, arch support and Achilles Tendon support is great, back of the ankle support is stiff that it hold everything in place, first it was hard to handle but after couple of use i got used to it and greatly appreciated. Here is one thing about Columbia and why I choose Columbia products, if you have been Russia (I have been) you must noticed that everybody wears Columbia more than any other brand in winter. Shoes, socks, sweaters, pants etc anything for winter conditions you will see that Columbia is the most chosen brand out there, well it is for a reason. it is the best out for worse winter conditions eventually!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2015this was actually my second pair of these boots.. i am an avid hiker and bought my first pair last year. these boots are super hardcore - the most hardcore boots i have had, and i have a lot of boots, including $$$ NorthFace. I like these more than my NorthFaces. Totally waterproof under normal circumstances - i have literally walked through creeks in them in the Cascades... in my experience - i had to walk through one creek where water was knee deep.. and i fully expected them to be saturated (I had no choice), but i remember being extremely pleased because - they did indeed become saturated, but it took about 10 seconds of walking through the creek for them before i felt the water and i think they only became saturated because it was knee deep, so it got in through the top as well.. i know from experience, other boots would have saturated almost instantly. They are super rugged - and very heavy. if you are looking for an agile/flexible boot, or one you can move very easily in, it's a bit clunky.. but its heavy duty.. i am a female, and i wore them everyday - i would wear them hiking on the weekends in the mountains - and then on the streets or downtown seattle everyday during the week, walking through the city. The boot is BIG.. because its technically made for snow and that type of weather, it's bigger than a standard hiking boot. If you are familiar with snow boots, you will know they are a bit bigger, and these are like that.
So I actually wore them year round - and my boots from last year are still in great shape after many adventures and everyday use.. but something about the material holds stains.. so they look like crap after 1 season. i have even washed them a few times. when they are new, they are jet black and pretty sweet looking. If you never took them out into the mountains and you used them for urban use, i imagine they would stay that way - but mine ended up like.. brown practically because once dirt is on them - i think the waterproof material its made of soaks in stains somehow.. but i liked them SO MUCH.. that i purchased another pair for this season just because i wanted some that looked good again... and now i am just using the other boots for dog parking.. and anything super dirty. And honestly - I'll buy another pair next year if i had too, because they are great boots.
Sizing wise, i never had an issue with going normal size unlike other reviewers.. I wear a 9.5 in mens in all shoes, and these fit as expected.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2015Kind of a premature review because I have not field tested so to speak with our Michigan Winters... it's 65 degrees out as I type this on Dec 13th. These boots are a hopeful replacement for a prior similar model Columbia type boot that I had for years... guessing close to 10. They were awesome, and easy to walk in... I don't know if the uppers gave out / delaminated from the rubber lower due to possible over heating in a crowded Ice Shanty and my being near the heater.. or, it was just their time. When the time comes I will be careful and watchful with these (keep this in mind for any shoe, boot.. heat is hard on them).
I do have a couple pairs of higher end winter snow boots that I wear for severe cold and idle situations ... out on the ice, not much walking with them due to being too clunky! These boots will be walked in at the end of January for approximately (4) miles of a snowy hike... it's why I got them. This is a Winter Camp Scout trip, Polar bear as we call it. I will report back on how they do.
As for now, they fit well with a mid-heavy Smartwool sock (always wear wool), I sat at my home den for an hour, walked around the inside of my home a little, they fit fine. I like how high the rubber goes, like the snugness on my shin when drawn snug with the laces. They are easy to put on, and take off, very minimal effort, no struggle... lace easy... I like so far! Size are a 12, I wear a 12 in 90% of my footwear, 13 at times for other gear, but these are true to size!

4.0 out of 5 stars Bei breiten Füßen lieber größer bestellen

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Produkt und super Preis/Leistung!
Klare Kaufempfehlung.
