Awesome, for me.

Awesome, for me.
..............but, they are awesome and light, as in weight. When I went to pick it up at the P.O., the box weight was light. It had other items in it but I was amazed. I am using it inside of the apartment to break it in but actually it feels very comfortable. The honeycomb design on the sides make it look.....unique. For a person that their feet swell up after an injury and by nature and age, our nose, ears and feet grow a little more. Just give me time to appreciate every step and I will give more information about it. But still, they feel and look, Awesome!//////////// Today, 11/29/2016, first day on the street walking with my CODE 6. They feel comfortable and fresh/cool(temperature). Did not feel over heated feet. (That sensation you get when the sun is strong/pavement hot and when walking that heat that goes around the top of the foot and ball of the foot.) Even though I requested a wider ones for a couple of reasons, they feel little weird but I have to adapt. Living in a tropical island where the pavement can be very or extremely hot, these feel light, comfortable and cool (temperature). Check the pictures out and hopefully it will help anyone to decide if these Bates are you.

I think it is a good shoe, very comfortable. I think they do feel a bit wider than normal but if you wear sports socks or boot socks you should be fine. They are light, have good traction, and look nice. I've been watching the glue around the leather-sole area to see if it will come unglued ;-) but it's hanging in there despite a small crack.

Comfortable for hours on end without questions. Not too water resistant I noticed. My foot was soaked after walking over a damp lawn.

I may or may not get this model again but with the brand you can't go wrong.

I never looked at footwear as a fit's all, satisfies all and always perfect product so I purchased these without looking at any of the reviews. One reason to add a Bates Boot to my footwear was because of the fine reputation Bates holds and that I've worn their shoes and boots in the past for work. I had no problems with them then and don't expect any now. After 5 days and worn 3 times for 8 hour periods they feel good.
My experience with this type boot is to purchase a 1/2 or 1 size larger. I wear thick socks and buy an additional inner sole, making it comfortable for me. You might like footwear that you can feel all around your feet, I don't. So a little extra room for me works. I'm a 10D and purchased an 11D. The toe on this boot is high leaving plenty of room for movement. They are a true 6 inch boot with about an inch and a half sole under that. The zipper helps when putting them on and off. There seems to be plenty of ventilation built in and I don't notice any heat build up so far. I don't know about wearing these in a desert or tropical area. But in my experience and a few pair of boots later there was no comfortable boot for that. Can't really give you any information regarding traction or running with these at this time. However they seem as good as any other I've worn for those purposes. Same with foot protection. There's no steel toe or shank so you'll have to consider that for you. I guess that's where the "light weight" in the description comes in. How they do in water and snow remains to be seen. For the price and the way I'm using them, I'm happy. If you require your clothing and footwear made in the USA these are not for you.

I recently purchased these boots to try out a new model for my crew. They are warm weather boots and living in the North East, I haven't had much opportunity to wear them yet this year. I believe I have worn these 6 or less times, between 2&8 hours each time since purchased.
Today I nearly tripped on some carpeting and I noticed the front lug on the sole is flapping in the breeze.( see pictures). This is not the Bates quality boot we have always trusted for comfort, safety, and to look great with our uniforms. This defect is unexceptable and dangerous to my crew.
I purchased this different model to try them out. The look is there but unfortunitly the usual Bates quality is not

Husband injured both ankles and heels a few years ago and needs high ankle support. Over the past 3 years we purchased 3 pairs of Bates 8" ultra lights because they give excellent support for his bad ankles and are very comfortable. He uses them with long pants, but they don't look good with shorts. We have searched for hightop sneakers with great ankle support like the 8" Bates ultra lights, but cannot find them anywhere. So, we tried these 6" Bates because they look like the 8" ones, and they are the closest to looking like hightop sneakers. They give great ankle support, are light, and are comfortable enough to wear all day. So far, all four Bates have consistently fit well. We wish they had it in brown or tan.

This is my second pair of boots in the same style. I'm on my feet for 6-9 hours at a stretch and these really are comfortable. The reduction in star is due to the first set failing after about a year along the outside toe area, the leather separated from the sole and forced me to replace them. The sole was pretty worn at that point anyway, so it wasn't a major deal.

Overall I'm very pleased with most of the Bates brand boot for duty wear.

Update 01-11-2017: After about 7 months this pair of boots is deteriorating rapidly. I walk about 5 miles a day on duty and the sole is badly worn. In addition, the eyes have begun to fall out of the lace holes. Overall I feel that this pair was not even as good quality as the one that lasted a year or so. Disappointed after spending over a hundred dollars on these. They are prohibitively expensive to resole as well, due to the material that Bates uses.

On a positive note, the glue has held the boot leather to the sole, though another 5 months (if they make it that long) may change that.
