Scratched shoes and too small.
I went to a Clark's shoe store here in Japan about 8 months ago. Trying to find shoes in my size (11) is a very tough thing to do here. I went there and tried on the biggest size they had (10.5). They were a little bit snug and I thought maybe this is how they are supposed to fit, since I keep reading everyone's reviews to size down. Well there was a bit of pain but I needed shoes ASAP and couldn't wait for a pair to be special ordered in a month or two. I bought the shoes and long story short, I bared through the pain trying to break them in over 8 months. I wore them 3 times a week and walked at least 3 miles each time. I tried thick socks, thin socks, no socks, tying the laces tighter, loose, super loose nothing worked. Now I said above that the size was 10.5. However when I ordered the ones I am giving the review for, I ordered 10.5. Now why would I do this? well inside the ones I bought from Japan, it said UK 9.5 US10. However it is really UK9.5=US10.5 There is no blame on Amazon or the store for my mistake in the size ordering. Being in Japan though, I will not be able to exchange them. The reason for the rating is that the shoes I received had a scratch on them. I can't return them, I can't sell them to someone else NIB, I'm just out money. TLDR: Received the shoes. Went half a size down from what I normally wear but the shoes were to tight. (Had to order from amazon and have shipped to Japan so I did not have a chance to try on.)     This is an outstanding boot. Looks incredibly good (better than I even thought, even with my high hopes going in) and also feels comfortable. I have read a number of reviews complain about the comfort, but that might because they are buying the wrong size, which brings me to my next point -- IMPORTANT -- these things run LARGE! If you're gonna get them, pick up a pair that is 1.5 sizes smaller than what you would normally wear. I usually wear 11.5-12, and the 10's fit my foot perfectly. Kind of annoying to deal with Clarks sizes, but damn they feel good now that I got the right pair, and the style of these boots more than makes up for this minor annoyance.

    No comment on the longevity yet, but they feel sturdy and well-built. Of course, standard tips for suede shoes apply (don't walk through the snow with these boots).

    In terms of style, the grey distressed color goes well with my blue jeans, black/grey jeans, and all black pants. I think they look best with skinny pants, but you can wear them with just about anything. A casual t-shirt, oxford, dress shirt (tucked in or out), and what I think is the best - a slightly baggy/oversized sweatshirt...looks freaking amazing. I don't ever rate clothes online (this is my first review) but I highly recommend these shoes.

    I've spent most of my life in boots of one sort or another and these are by far the best casual boots out there. They are great multi-tasksers--equally at home on the trails, at work, or on the town. These are my second pair of Clarks Desert Boots. I still have my first pair--the beeswax leather--I wanted them in black too.

    The boots are very durable, well made, and are made from 100 percent natural and sustainable materials. Also, they last forever, provided you take care of them--use appropriate polish, mink oil and saddle soap as needed and these will go on forever. When the sole wears out it can be replaced inexpensively at most shoe and boot repair shops.

    Although there are some tasks that other boots would be better for--I would much rather have my Gortex lined Matterhorns for slogging through the snow than my Clarks (these are desert boots, not slog through the Arctic boots)--the Clarks can step in and do the job--and still look like boots--as opposed to looking like a pair of beefed up sneakers like Hi Techs or what have you.

    The only drawback to these boots is that they can be hard to get for under $100 or at all in some cases. They are rarely on sale and they sell out pretty quick. I had to wait three months to get these, but they are worth it.

    What remains to be said about a Clarks desert boot? I've always loved them, and while they are no longer made in England, they are still a great buy especially if you get them on sale. I bought a pair in black leather when the price dropped really low (the next day it was back up to over $ 100 so check the price daily to catch a sale) - what a great deal this was! The boots are comfortable right out of the box - there was no break-in period at all. I wear a men's US 8, and that's what I ordered. I wasn't sure if the sizes listed here are US or UK but they are US. They run a little large - maybe half a size - which is great, because it allows me to use a thin cushioning insole (like Dr. Scholls) to make them even more comfortable.     Bought these as a gift. Item was shipped and arrived in a timely manner. Item was also packed nicely. The person I bought this item for told me that this particular shoe fit just like any other Clarks brand. Sizing was as expected. However, they stated there was no arch support, he had to put shoe inserts in them. Even with the shoe inserts he stated that he couldn't stand on them for too long. Colors were vibrant and exactly as shown in picture. Trendy item which adds a pop of color to an ordinary outfit. However, I would say that the item was perfectly described for this item. As far as price point goes I found this seller to offer the best rate compared to any other retailers.

    I love my Clark's this is the second pair I have purchased, I did find that I needed to size down half a size to get the best fit with them.

    I am currently alternating between three different pairs of them and love all three. Keep in mind these only get better as you continue to wear them and break in the leather.

    Pros:
    Looks good with anything from casual wear to business casual.
    Solid sole with good grip in all situations
    Easy to put on and off, I find these are great in the airport
    Leather is high quality and wears well.

    Cons:
    Fairly flat with low cushioning, if you have issues where your feet hurt walking around avoid these.
    Toes get pretty beat up with day to day wear so I keep casual and work shoes seperate.

    You can't go wrong with the classic desert boot. The green leather I bought is a great color, but it does scuff easily (if you care about that). I'm a size 12 and have a little bit of a wide foot and the 11.5 fits me fine, so I recommend buying a half size smaller than usual.
    The Horween leather is a plus, and the crepe sole is just as soft as ever. Durable, comfortable, and they never seem to go out of style. They're probably worth full price, but you can always get a deal on Amazon. Recommended.
