Outstanding lightweight multifunctional boot
After putting over 200 Miles on them I feel like I can talk about these boots a little bit. First off they are the most comfortable boot I've owned, glove-like fit. They are super lightweight compared to most hiking/backpacking boots out there, just a bit heavier that a trail running shoe without sacrificing stability. Totally waterproof, the only moist that builds up inside them is because of my profusely sweaty feet. The grip is ok, I prefer Vibram all day long but they get the job done. Breathability is pretty decent, it's getting HOT out here in Texas so we'll see how they behave in temperatures over 100 degrees. Overall you can't go wrong with these, they're just awesome!

Most comfortable boots I have ever worn. My 5-Star rating is based on several things. I have owned mine for 9-months. 1st I bought mine online using the sizing chart (Makes me nervous) & they fit perfectly. I chose the 13. My size varies from 12 to 13. I could not believe how light there were. Insanely light for a boot! Much lighter than Timberlands. I truly felt there was zero break in period. I read a few poor reviews saying they needed break in time. Not true here. I bought in late September wanting a comfortable boot that breathed that would give me stable footing in mild winter conditions. A friend told me they were water proof..... THEY ARE! I stood in a puddle on a very cold day 30ish.... No leakage. I have a high arch & standard width. This boot gives me all the support & comfort one could expect from paying over $100 for boots... But I feel these boots over delivered on those expectations. I have not had any back issues since owning these. I love the contra grip! If I had to make a complaint which anyone can do... I would have 2. These boots squeak if you stand and rock back and forth. Not noticeable with normal walking. The other is my grip is showing a good amount of wear on my heels. If a tire can go 70,000 miles I would like think the rubber could be improved. I took a pic to show my wear. I have worn these boots everyday... Cold/Hot.... Does not matter. With the right wool socks I have enjoyed healthy, comfortable dry feet in all conditions. I am pretty sure I will only get 1yr out of mine..... But I wear mine every day & I am a guy who buys new tires before they get to a point I feel unsafe.

I first tried on a pair of Keen Targhee II boots because of the high ratings but they were way too wide for my 12.5B feet. Then I tried a pair of Merrells. Better, but still to wide. Then I tried these Salomons in size 13. Yes! With a thick pair of socks and a thin pair, the fit is nearly perfect. They're not much heavier than running shoes with much better ankle and sole support and better traction. I'm taking away 1 star because they're plasticy and stretchy. I have to stop often to cinch the laces up.

Waited to write the review. I'm an avid hiker, camper and outdoors lover. I've hiked in the Catskills and Adirondack mountains with my boots and my feet have been dry, secure and happy. They are every bit as well made and sturdy as my military issued Danner boots. And they look great as well.

I have had these boots for about a year and a half. I just recently put them to the test. Some friends and I trekked in the Bighorns, we hiked 22 miles in 2 days. The second day we hiked 13.5 miles. The terrain was rocky, and the sole of these boots did not stand up to the test. These are comfortable boots if wearing for shorter hikes, and not walking on a lot of smaller rocks. By the end of each day my feet were very sore, and granted you might have sore feet wearing any boot after climbing a mountain and walking 13 plus miles in a day. But the shear fact that the sole does not stand up to rocks, in that you feel all of them poking your foot if they are smaller rock, is why I am not super impressed with these boots. The gortex works well, my feet have stayed dry when walking in melting snow or water. Another thing that you will read is that these don't take any time to break in, and that is true. But I would say a good sturdy hiking boot that takes some miles to break in is a good thing. These are light, and the body of them is fairly flimsy, so they aren't great at supporting ankles when walking on shifty ground. So overall for a actual hiking boot that you will use to hike in for long distances I would go another direction.

All the fit of my old Salomon boots, but a little lighter. Excellent product, you won't be sorry. My old ones are still in service and perfect after 5 years and many hundreds of miles walking anywhere you might imagine, from sea-level to 12000 feet, and even have spent a little time being inappropriately used as work boots. I love them and these are every bit as good. The old ones are a higher-top boot, I bought these for lighter duty stuff and basic walking around...

These seem like they'd be good for someone with skinny feet. I'll be returning mine soon because I need a wide fit. Salomon would be doing well to make a wide fit option. Until then, one star all around. They don't feel very rugged either. I wouldn't recommend doing rocky trails with these, especially with a loaded pack. The soles are very flexible and soft. They don't have ankle support like the Solomon Quests either.

The never-ending search for a decent hiking boot continues...

It is totally waterproof, I submerged the boot in bathroom sink water and did paper towel test after few minutes, it is totally dry.

Excellent product. Very comfortable. Definitely order a larger size from your usual. I always wear a size 9 so I ordered a 9.5 as I prefer lightweight walking socks and they fit perfectly. If you prefer thick walking socks I would say go up a whole size.
