- Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2016I enjoy the Chelsea style boots and wear them quite a bit for business. I'm a Timberland fan and I was pleasantly surprised to see they made a casual.model Chelsea boot. I'm usually a 14EEE and Timberland boots tend to run wide in the toe box. I ordered the 14.5 since the 14 was unavailable. The boot was a tab big, but I put in a get insole and the boot fit perfect. The soles.of the boot are soft and can be something to get used to if you wear dress shoes daily. But the gel.insole helped.quite a bit.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2016Snug at first, I agree with the other buyers, you need an extra gel insert or something, especially for your arches. The materials are high quality and they feel very good to wear, especially once the leather molds to your foot shape. Wide foot here, ordered the wide, fits perfectly.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2016These are heavier than other similarly designed boots I have had from Timberland, both in the materials and the weight. These are urban wear not well suited for mud or snow due to their tread pattern. The rubber soal might do well on ice but the narrow cutouts in the tread will quickly clog with mud or worse. Just try not to step in anything even faintly like mud.
These are not dancing boots. They have some weight to them. They feel more like a work boot than walking or casual wear. Its an unusual mix of heavy duty construction and stylish design.
The stretchy parts on the sides are heavy duty. That makes them a bit of work to slip on but might help them not wear out. There is a loop on the back to help tug them on, and you will need it. That part on the front is just enough of a loop to thread a hook through, so only useful if you are captain hook.
The seams all look really strong and they feel solid when worn. The soles are on the stiff side but provide that work boot sort of feel. I haven't had the chance to try them on a greasy floor, but the hard rubber (or rubber like) soles feel like they are slip-resistant. Unlike hardened materials, these soles have a little give to them; like you can dig your fingernail into them just enough to show they are durable. The soles appear to be solid cast, with no inlays or glued on parts to peel away.
There's a thin squishy liner inside all but the heel of the boot. This makes the boot breatheable and just a bit more comfortable than without. Not having that liner on the back of the heel is important because there is nothing to tear, wear down, or roll down when you jam your foot in there. In fact, the back of the inside (where your heel meets the boot) has a seam so fine I can barely feel it. They really are comfortable with only a light sport sock.
This is all great, but I found the rear edge of the inside seam around the stretchy sides lines up right over my anklebone. I'm wearing them with super heavy socks, so its not a problem yet.
As these are not insolated boots and warm weather will be here soon, I plan to wear these boots with sport socks and a thick memory foam insert. I've had success with buying boots 1 size up and either wearing very heavy socks or thick inserts in the past. I'm hoping the rise of the inserts will raise my ankles above that seamline. If not, these will be cold weather boots with no insolation.
I recommend you also purchase the best thick (gel or memory foam) inserts to ensure the 8-hour comfort for wich the design of these boots appears to be intended. They come with a basic flat insert, and the sole below that is rock solid.
Consider having a wire brush handy for when you do step in something that will surely be more than unpleasant to dig out of the narrow cut treads.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2017Yes, they are a built beefier than Chelseas and most other urban shoes, but they are Timberlands after all. I have worn them every day at work for the past 6 months where I spend 50% of my day standing. I walk to work in them as well. I do not use or need inserts with this shoe. They were as comfortable new as sturdy boots can be and fine for a full work day. After a short break-in period, their comfort improved more as expected. I normally wear a 10D in boots and a 10.5 in sneakers/form fitting shoes. I ordered the Timberland Chelseas in 10D and they are a perfect fit. They hold my foot snug with no slip. Best of all (and the real reason to own Chelseas), I can pop them on and off instantaneously! The beefy straps assure a solid grip for yanking them on. The reviewer who said he couldn't put them on while standing must have ordered too small.
I have the brown ones and treated them twice so far with mink oil. These Timberlands are going to last many years. I like them so much, I ordered another pair in black. I wear them with office casual. Top drawer quality in every respect.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2016I returned these: no cushioning arch support like their earlier models which I wore every day for years because they were the most comfortable but stylish shoes I've ever owned. The ankle area was also too wide.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2016Nice shoe. I ordered my standard size 10 but it was to wide. Had to return.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2017These are very well made boots with incredibly durable soles. I've gone through a few pairs of Chelsea boots over the years and these Timberlands are by far the best. Nothing too fancy, but sturdy and good for business casual or on-site work.
