- Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2015Love them ! Im a Park Ranger so I am on my feet all day walking the park and hiking up steep mountain terrain. I normally take an 11 but ordered a 11.5 to accommodate a pair of thick wool sock. They required no break in and are probably the most comfortable hiking boots that I have ever had. I have not purposely stepped in streams to see how water resistant they are, but can tell you that my feet have been nice and dry even in the rain. Im not sure if I would wear them in the hot and humid NC summers, I will have to wait for next summer to provide input on that. But for the cooler fall and early winter they have kept my feet very, very comfortable.

Initial review: This was my third attempt at waterproof hiking boots this winter - first two were pairs from Merrell (Turku/all out blaze), both pair were nice overall but lacked the comfort/security of the Vasque, especially in the toeboox area regardless of size. Have owned the boots approximately two weeks, eight days of which have been 2+ feet of snow. Gore-Tex quality of the product has held up in tremendous slush and snow. Fit of the boot is particularly nice, wide in the toebox, good in comparative length and overall support is solid. Foot feels secure but not overly tight/cramped. My only initial concern with the Vasque purchase was around the expected weight of the boot - they turned out to be far lighter than expected even with the solid material and Gore-Tex waterproofing. Will continue my review at a later date once they've been put through further tests, but it this point I would recommend this boot - Vasque Taku gor-Tex.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2015Size: 9.5Color: Beluga/Olive BrandVerified PurchaseI hike every day rain or shine 3 to 6 miles. The break in took a while, about a week and a half. The lowest eyelets were killing my feet. Now that that is over I really enjoy these and am very surprised at how comfortable they turned out.
Update 03-09-19. I bought these November 27, 2014 and have worn them everyday. These boots are unbelievable. I can not believe how long they have lasted. Granted there's not much left of them now but I could not ask for a better product. I wish they had a milage counter on them! Well done Vasque... Well done
- Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2016Pretty narrow boots they still fit fine but narrow. Some of the rubber on the toe appears to be starting to come apart I'm gonna keep my eye on it for he next little bit. All in all the quality level doesn't seem to be on par for vasque and I'm not too impressed by them. The insoles went bye bye as soon as I got them l, they are absolute garbage.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2014I have worn Vasque Clarions for better than 25 years and have always been pleased with them. The second pair finally wore out about 6 months ago. My wife and I are gearing up to walk the Camino de Santiago de Compostella in northern Spain. I tested boots from several major manufacturers before picking the Vasque Taku GTX. I have wide feet, so I ordered the wide size.
The boots fit perfectly and I quickly forget I'm wearing them. In particular, the lacing "system" allows for many adjustments. One specially-nice thing for me is that the toe-box is quite roomy. This is quite important because my big toe sticks slightly up and out from 'normal'. Smaller toe-boxes quickly cause irritation and pain, but no pain with these boots.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2015Size: 11.5Color: Slate Brown/Rumba RedVerified PurchaseI loved the boots and they are very comfortable and work really well if wearing all day long. I have had them for a month and the rubber lining is already peeling off so I am disappointed in them as fast as how long the lasted. I wish there was some way I could talk to company about it.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2016Size: 11 WideColor: Beluga/Olive BrandVerified PurchaseUPD: I've been wearing these around during my daily task to break them in, and I've done a few short hikes in them. I move around a lot 24/7, and haven't had any problems so far. I replaced my Vasque Breeze GTX with these. I prefer the all leather ghille design of these boots better than the vented design of the Breezes. However in the Summer when it's really hot, I may buy another hybrid boot just for the hot days so these can breathe. I normally only carry a day pack with water, and do fast hikes and scrambles. This boot has about an inch higher shaft than the Breeze, however there's not a big difference in weight. They are taking a little longer to break in than my Breezes and one thing to note... I wear a wide boot, and these wide size Takus are a little more narrow in the forefoot than my Breezes. This could just be due to them not being broke in yet. Since there fully enclosed leather instead of leather and panels like the Breezes, this may just be a matter of them getting broke in.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2016Size: 9Color: Slate Brown/Rumba RedVerified PurchaseI've had these boots for over year now and I'm super pleased with my purchase. They perform well on the trail, always keep my feet super dry which I've never had a pair of boots do before, and I was surprised how warm they actually stay in the winter. Great quality construction and super comfortable after they break in. Top hooks do slip sometimes but not a big deal although I know it bothers other people
