- Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2015Fit perfect right out of the box. I just received them this morning, so I can't leave a long term response just yet, but so far I am very pleased. Very comfortable and warm. Waterproofing working good so far. Very well constructed and good looking boots as well. Great deal for the price paid, I would definitelyt recommend!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2016I'm so mad at myself over these boots. I shopped for weeks debating on whether I should or shouldn't buy a pair for just one purpose. I bought these for one reason - for use when I'm using the snow blower. Unfortunately, it didn't snow before the return period was over.
They absolutely EAT my ankles raw. I'm not exaggerating. I even took pictures of the scabs on both ankles. They cause severe blistering on my ankle bones. They are unwearable as-is. Doubling or even tripling of socks don't solve the issue.
The culprit is the part of the shoe support that wraps around the ankle. It is bent or warped or leaning in. It's much worse on the right shoe, but it's there on the left too. I'm not sure how to describe it exactly. My solution, to make them wearable, is I cut 3 inch wide strips of foam and I ram it between the wall of the shoe and my ankle that faces outwards. With the foam in-place, the boots are wearable.
I also don't like the hooks for the laces. They have a rivet that protrudes too far making it difficult to lace the boot up. There isn't enough clearance.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2016The Good: They look very, very good for the price. Reasonably well built. Interior is very comfortable, cushioned. It's very easy to get in and out of the boots. They are certainly waterproof and even in 5F weather my feet were remarkably warm. Easily the best boots I've had from that perspective. The first impression you'll get out of the box is a "wow! These look nice!"
The not so good: After just a short time the boots broke in. I bought the smaller end of the size I usually wear (1/2 size less) and never ever wear smaller. Well on these boots I would have done better buying a boot size smaller than my shoe. Wearing two pairs of socks is what made the boot wearable but I find still too much room in the front. Walking in them is uncomfortable after a while because there isn't much give on the bottom. It's not like wearing those leatherish work boots with a rubber sole. These are molded and pretty much stay in the shape they are in. So you had better match your size perfectly.
Now here was the big issue to me which explained the discomfort walking. The heel is indented. I supposed they did this to mimic a running sneaker. You can barely see this from the pure side view of the boot but the rise by the heel is enough so your heel does not hit the ground flat. As a result, I feel like my boot is slipping forward and I plant my foot somewhere forward of the absolute back of my heel. I have to push myself forward to the very roomy front of the boot (that still has a lot of room) so as not to feel like my foot is slipping down the back and that the boot back begins somewhere past my heel. Unfortunately it is too late to return as I've worn them twice and the wear on the bottom is noticeable quickly.
They take an effort to tie them and make them feel like they are tight and part of your foot. Perhaps it has more to do with the sizing issue above. I'm pretty torn about giving these boots a 3 or 4 star rating. I usually error on the side of giving a vendor a higher rating - and these definitely are good boots. But my experience in them is disappointing so far.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2015I bought these for my husband to wear when shoveling snow in the winter. Its sometimes very hazardous to walk out our front door and down the steep steps (live in PA, explains everything to someone who has lived here) due to ice and snow. Its safer to use the driveway that is only half as steep as the front steps. My husband insisted that he didn't want any boots. He is 64 and has issues with flexibility and thought boots would be too difficult for him to lace properly. The first few times he laced the boots he did have some issues, but has now developed a process that works for him. I was surprised when he told me the boots are working out great. He loves them! Warm and comfortable with support. He left them on to run errands and had no issues driving with them (shocker). He said he only took them off when he returned in consideration of not tracking anything onto the carpet. We haven't had as much snow and ice as we normally have had by this time of the winter so my husband says he doesn't yet know how well they will grip on ice. He has worn them in snow and says that he is getting more surefooted. Finding a boot that he enjoys wearing makes me very happy with this purchase. My husband wears a size 10.5 in regular shoes. I bought the size eleven and he wears a thick pair of socks or two socks with them and is happy with the fit. As best as we can tell, we think the size 10 would be a little short for him.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2015The boots fit perfectly and are comfortable. The real problem I have with them is that they do not perform as advertised in the way of protecting my feet from sub-zero environments. They are advertised as being good for temperatures reaching as low as -40 degrees. I work in a -25 degree environment at an hour at a time. By the time that hour has been completed, my toes are numb from the cold environment getting through the boots. I bought the boots specifically to help keep my feet warm, but they are not doing the job.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2018Boots are excellent in terms of model and quality of workmanship. Made in China, but quality, I think, has not suffered. The sole is thick, which will help in frosts, but it adds weight to the shoes. Compared to ordinary shoes, for example, with Columbia, they are slightly heavier. I have not had time to try the cold in cold weather, but they feel they must keep the warmth of their feet. Perhaps I did not have warmer shoes :)
PS On the leg sit comfortably. Laces are very long, I do not know what to do with them)) For a narrow leg will be wide.
PPS For such little money this is probably the best winter boots!
