I ordered size 8.5 since it stated 265. However when I tried it on it is too big and it's written 275 on the box. not 265

I really like these boots. I normally wear a size 12 so I ordered a 12 3E because I have wide feet. The boots fit perfect, they are very comfortable and are light weight. I've had them for a month and wear them 30 hours a week. I wouldn't reccomend these for vigorous labor like construction, hiking etc.. given their light weight synthetic soles these would not hold up for long in those fields. These would be great for law enforcement and security guards in my opinion. It's more of a 'walking around all day' kind of boot.

Bate's makes a great product and I have worn this brand for 5+ years without major issues.

I added Nylon/Bunjee boot laces to these so I no longer need to lace them every day and it allows for some swelling/expansion during shift.
(A personal trick I picked up from long serving beat officers )
They are comfortable, wide in the toe so I can spread/stretch my toes during shift and still keep my ankle, hell and arch supported , in place.
    No blisters,no chaffing.
Not heavy at all, almost sneaker/gym shoe like in weight.

My ONE complaint is that the leather of the boot is rather....odd, quality as it takes some MAJOR effort for it to take a GOOD "spit" shine.
Normally It takes me 4-6 applications of polish to get a good, parade quality, formal inspection shine on a boot.
THESE? I am on coat 8 and they are JUST now looking like they will take that level of shine.
With a normal day to day polish/cleaning they look OK, not great but good enough to get by.
Still, for every day use ?In a major US city that is covered in grime, filth and ...various forms of GROSS ?
They serve me very well , all things considered.

I've bought Bates brand boots for over 18 years. If this is a 3E, I'll eat the shoe. I held it up to compare with my 2E boots...same width. Same fit. I was hoping for a little wiggle room for a thicker sock. This is in no way a reflection on the vendor I bought from, just Bates itself. 11 3E fits and is the same physical width of a Bates 11 2E boot(enforcer 8 inch tactical zip boot for anyone that cares). Is that a problem for me, no, just wish it had been true to width sizing. What's good about em, Bates outsole, rugged, grippy. What this is a rather rugged hi-top shoe, they may call it a light weight 4 inch tactical boot all they want, its a pair of hi-top. So if you are used to Bates as footwear, and are used to the boots, this is great. Several years ago Bates made a tennis shoe, with some weird heel thing you could pull out and change by turning it what level of squishyness you wanted for heel support. Those were like nightmares on your feet, and they seem to have learned from that shoe and incorporated what was good about them(light weight, shoe like rather then boot like) and kicked the bad stuff out (strange heel supports you changed by turning, lack of foot support in the shoe itself). But like all Bates, this isn't going to be winning you any fashion points, its there for work and oddly they are rather comfortable. I'd wear my boots year round but they get rather hot in summer, and these, have the same footbed comfort level as my beloved boots. Score! Edit Jan 1st 2021 the sole of the left boot has the blue arch part flip flipping...otherwise both boots are still in good shape and have only needed 3 insole changes, worn daily 9 hrs on concrete since purchased..

So far so good with this boot. Fits well and feels light throughout 12 hr ER shift. Vote is still out on support as mine are not completely broken in, and I'm a large mammal (310 pounds). At this point I would definitely recommend this boot. Will update review if the boot breaks down under my weight and use.

After just three weeks of wearing the boots the shoe lace rivets, or plastic pieces securing the shoes laces in the leather holes are popping off, loose and will not reattach to the shoe. Not at all impressed with the quality of this boot.

Its just less than one year to date i purchased these shoes (08/17/2014) just one day ago on 08/14/2015 the soles gave out at the front end. Ive have used these shoes for walking on an Industrial type paver. This review is just days short of one year use of these shoes. THESE SHOSE/BOOTS ARE comfortable BUT THEY ARE NOT WORTH THE MONEY . And if anyone is going to write a review on shoes/boots! Wait aleat one year of using the product

I was looking for something that gave me more support than sneakers, had the grip and style of a boot, but was light and comfortable enough for a lot of walking. This is one of the better attempts I've had in that regard. So far, so good.

    BATESは造りがすごく小さいです。
    日本26cmなら普通はUSの7か8ですが、BATESは幅も長さも小さめなので試着した方がいいです。
    私はサイズ+2で、インソール変えてフィットしました。
