Sizing is actually correct, people!
I am baffled by the reviews I read for these boots. First of all, they are fantastic. I am replacing a 20 year old pair of Lacrosse boots that were made for cold winter weather, and unlike most reviews I read, I found these to be much lighter and comfortable to walk in. But let's get to the really baffling issue here: size. At first I was convinced the majority of people commenting on how LARGE these boots are were smoking something that fogged their brains. I wear a size 11 and after reading all the reviews, I took a risk and ordered a size 10. Everyone seems convinced these boots run "3 sizes too big!" Not true. I wish I had ordered my size. The size 10 does fit, but my toe is almost right to the end, so if I put on my thick winter socks they may not fit. So I may need to send them back and order my real size after all! So where in the world are all these crazy reviews coming from saying they are HUGE??? I have a theory... these boots are made for winter, COLD winter... like ice and snow. There is a nice thick liner that goes inside the rubber boot. Yes, it is removeable. No, you are NOT supposed to wear the boots without it. One reviewer mentioned he was from SAN FRANCISCO. What the heck is anyone farther south than Michigan doing with these boots? That would be waaaaay too hot! You guys in the south have no business buying WINTER boots like this. I'm guessing people are removing the thick liner and then whining about how huge the boots are. Duh! (I'm seriously shaking my head over here.) I've included pictures of the thick liner removed. I will be buying a separate pair of NON-insulated boots for the summer months. I will not wear these boots in weather warmer than 32 degrees. Summary: These feel like very cozy, comfortable boots for a good price. They will keep your feet warm in very cold weather, although the other Baffins are rated for the coldest weather, so if you're going to subzero Alaska I would get the even warmer ones. I also included a picture of the size 10 boot next to my size 11 running shoes for comparison. See... not nearly as huge a people keep saying. Cheers!

While this item is listed in stock in my size, I've tried ordering it three times only to find out later it is not in stock. The boots are excellent if you can get them. I'm trying to replace my 9 yr old pair.

.....except through piled-up mountains of snow, broad valleys of slush, or bottomless lakes of filthy, oily, ice-cold saltwater. This is the terrain we commonly encounter in New York City during the days of "clean-up" after a snowstorm. For this, these boots are excellent. I'd also wear them in deep, fresh snow, where the thick rubber soles, warm lining insert, high tops, and drawstring closure would make it possible to tramp repeatedly up a sledding hill, for instance, while staying totally dry and warm. That's the good news.

As other reviewers have noted, the bad news is that these boots run very large, and are quite bulky and heavy. I am a woman with a wide foot who can usually wear a men's size 7 Wide. Thick socks make these boots manageable, but they are really too big. Also, as a relatively small (5'2") woman, it would be very tiring to walk any distance with this kind of weight on my feet -- for me, this is not a hiking boot, though that might not be a problem for a larger person. [1 boot = 2 lbs. 3 oz.)

I kept them because 7 was the smallest size offered, and because, as noted above, they seem unbeatable in this price range for the combination of warmth, TOTAL waterproofness, and the protection of a closed, high top. These are not "all-purpose" boots, but they do the job by providing complete security on the days when conditions require them. It's great to leave the house knowing that NOTHING I encounter out there can make my feet cold or wet.

[In fairness, I should add that I haven't yet tested them in cold under about 20 degrees F. But the more-than-generous width would allow for plenty of thick sox in addition to the liner.]

I love these boots. You can go where you couldn't before. We went to the Horicon Marsh in Wisconsin to see the migratory birds. Tho one does not walk IN the marsh (it is reserved for the nesting birds) there are places where you would mess up your hiking boots if you went there. At one place where we walked, the ground was soggy and wet, and we could not proceed if we had not gone back to our car to get our water proof boots. As a result of putting them on (easy on and off - just stick your feet in.) we walked thru the wet countryside, and suddenly a whole flock of sandhill cranes rose up out of a nearby field and filled the sky. Just what we had wanted to see!
The boots are comfortable, tho since they are insulated, they would not be for hot weather. But they are perfect for cold weather. I will wear them for winter use also. The treads are good for non-slip (tho ice or real slippery mud could still lead to slipping.) The liners are firmly made, easy in and out, and comfortable. These boots are sturdy and well made, and I am very pleased with them. I'm sure they will last a long time.

The fit on these is loose and a little large. My shoe size is 8 so I ordered 9 and they are plenty big for even a 9, which 2 pair of socks takes up the room. I live outside Fairbanks , AK and have worn with one pair of socks at -20 to -25 F and very pleased with the warmth after 3 hours (being active hauling firewood.) Im
pleased enough that I ordered another pair in size 8 for when i dont need 2 pair of socks. Im going to try felt insoles in the size 9 soon as find some. Will update on the insoles and how they are when we get a -40F.
