Choosing a high quality pair of western boots can be challenging. Getting a respectable look is easy but you also want quality and durability as well. The Dan Post Boot Company is legendary for quality and has a strong a tradition and a reputation for making the world’s finest cowboy boots. From classic leather to snake and other exotic skins, Dan Post gives the wearer a pair handsome, rugged and top quality boots that are designed to both fit and look great all day and all night.
Dan Post’s Omaha Western Boots
Produced by Dan Post Boot Company, this model is entirely made of leather with genuine python snakeskin vamps. They are very lightweight but they are also strong and good looking, probably best summed up as casual elegance i.e. wear them anywhere and look good. They come a few different styles or colors – Black, which not surprisingly has black snakeskin vamps and an black embroidered shaft and a similar version called ‘Natural’ in which the black shafts have been embroidered with brown highlights and the vamps and counters have been left uncolored. Another combination or version called “black/natural” has been discontinued but there are sometimes a few old stock pairs around. Finally a brown version called ‘Western Bay Apache’ is also now being released and we should see it soon (edit seperate review here ).
They feature an ‘R toe’ which is reasonably pointed, enough that it doesn’t look like a round work boot but not the painful extremes that we sometimes see. The Omaha range also all have “Dan Post’s Ultimate Flex Insole” which is a handcrafted cushion comfort technology designed to deliver all-day stability and comfort in the heel and arch. After that mouthful lets just say they are more comfortable than most western or cowboy boots.
On the bottom is a good strong angled heel that meets the tradition of being around 1 and a 1/2 inches tall as well as a fully leather sole. The boot opening is about 13.5 inches around – in case you got huge soles or big calves and the shaft extends about 13.25 inches from the arch.
The model is not made in the USA, as they are imported from Mexico. However as they are mostly sold in the USA and built to match North American standards in terms of both sizing and quality expectations that shouldn’t be a problem.
